Rediscovering Pride

“Pride 2025 is likely going to be a little less corporate – not as many cute rainbow-hued “Love is Love” T-shirts at your local Target, at any rate – and a little more like a protest march, the way it was first envisioned. For the first time in my adult life, friends (especially those who work for the government) are wondering if they should attend a Pride parade, much less march in one. People are afraid.

“There was a time, before I was out, when showing up at Pride took courage. Whenever I read about those times, what I thought were historical records from long ago, I always wondered if I would have hidden away or if I would have been one of the brave ones.”
